How a landscape job runs
Three steps, with the design fee known before any drawing starts.
- Site meetingWarren comes out and walks the block with you to see the slope, the sun and the soil. If you go ahead with a design, the meeting fee comes off it.
- Fee proposal and planWarren sends a design fee proposal, then draws a plan for your block and the way you want to use it.
- Build, managedBirdwood builds it, with Warren running every trade, or you take the plan and build in stages.

Meet Warren
Owner and landscape designer
I'm Warren Green. I started Birdwood in 2003, after many years at Civic Trees growing, planting and moving advanced trees for gardens across Sydney.
I'm on site for every job from the first walk-around to the handover. My thinking is simple: nature has done most of the work, and a good design makes it a little better.

What happens at the first site meeting?
The site meeting usually runs up to two hours and is charged at an hourly rate. You talk through what you want, he looks at levels, aspect, drainage and existing trees, and then quotes the design. That meeting fee is taken off the design price if you go ahead.
Can I just get a plan and build it myself?
Yes. Some clients take the plan and build it themselves or in stages as the budget allows. Others have Birdwood build the whole job.
Will you build a garden someone else designed?
Yes. Birdwood regularly builds from other landscape designers' and landscape architects' plans.
Do you work outside the Central Coast?
Yes. Birdwood is based in Kariong and also works on the North Shore, the Northern Beaches, in Sydney and in the Hunter.
